"I acquired a half-dozen bottles of this wine at a New York auction and have drunk three bottles. The wine is fully mature, and probably slightly past its apogee. The color is a dark ruby/garnet with considerable orange and rust at the edge. The wine exhibits a knock-out (well over 90 points) bouquet of sweet cassis and cedar. In the mouth, the attack offers plenty of glycerin, the richness of a great vintage, and a seamless, opulent texture. However, after 10-15 minutes in the glass, the wine begins to fade, and appears to dry out in less than 30 minutes. This is an excellent wine, if drunk immediately. Moreover, I suspect well-stored magnums and larger formats could be quite brilliant. Last tasted 9/97." RP 88
